Current Event : Olympic Athletes!

One current event that I am very interested in is the Olympics. On this website www.dogonews.com we had to chose a current event and the one I picked was rising athletes to look out for at the Olympics. These are some of my favourite rising athletes to look out for.

Simone Biles

Simone Biles was born on the 14th of March 1997 and is currently 19 years old. At the age of 19 she has already collected 23 medals with 17 of them being gold. She competes in Beam, Uneven Bars, Vault, Floor, Team and All-arounds. So far in the Olympics she has gotten four gold medals and one bronze. One of the gold medals she got was with her team which included Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Laurie Hernandez and Madison Kocian.


Katie Ledecky

Katie Ledecky was born on the 17th of March 1997 and is currently 19 years old. She has currently gained 20 medals with with nineteen of them being gold and one silver. The stroke she competes in are freestyle but the races she does are 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 4x100m and 4x200m. In 2012 she earned one gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics. In 2013 she earned four gold medals at the World Aquatic Championship in Barcelona. In 2014 she earned five gold medals at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championship in the Gold Coast. In 2015 she earned five gold medals at the World Aquatic championship in Kazan, Russia. In 2016 she earned four gold medals and one silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics.



Michael Phelps

Michael Phelps was born on the 30th of June 1985 and is currently 31 years old. He has eighty-three medals with sixty-six being gold fourteen being silver and three being bronze. The strokes he swims/competes with are Butterfly, Freestyle, Breaststroke and Individual Medley. So far at these Olympics he has won four gold medals and one silver.
